Here at the Parish of Saint Michael's we have some great clergy that are committed to the Youth Minstry Program!
Msgr. Timothy J. Shugrue became Pastor of St. Michael Parish on February 1, 2011. Born in Elizabeth and raised there and in Westfield, Msgr. Tim graduated from Blessed Sacrament School, Elizabeth and Seton Hall Prep, South Orange before attending Seton Hall University, where he received his B.A. degree in Classical Languages.
In addition to his parish duties, Msgr. Tim currently serves the Archdiocese as a member of the Patrimony Commission, and as contact person for Courage, an outreach ministry to Catholics seeking to live in accordance with the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.
Msgr Tim likes to travel – Ireland has been a frequent destination – and her has succeeded in visiting all 50 U.S. states before I was 50!
Born in Medellin, Colombia, Fr Sebastian aka "Padre" received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Seton Hall University. He says that his mother and local priests in Colombia inspired him to become a priest. Prior to entering the seminary, Padre helped in the catechetical formation of children, and became involved in the dynamism of the charismatic renewal movement, which “contributed a lot to form the man and servant I am.”
We were fortunate to have had Deacon Sebastian here at St. Michael's for the year before his priestly ordination.
On May 26, 2018 Fr. Sebastian was ordained to the priesthood for service to the Archdiocese of Newark and offered his First Mass of Thanksgiving here at St. Michael's later that day.
Fr. Dan was ordained in 1973 as a priest for the Diocese of Paterson.
Recently he retired from being the Pastor of St Matthews in Randolph.
Friends with Msgr. Shugrue, Fr. Dan joins us at St. Michaels to help say Mass on the weekends!
